Charles Albert Ruscade, nicknamed Papa Rouyo. When he was 19, like many other slave descendant, he signed a “colonage” contract with a big sugar factory and the city of Le Moule.

Just before he died, suddenly, the city of le Moule and the sugarcane factory came to the Ruscade home with an expulsion letter. His daughter Danielle Galli decided to do a trial against them.In 1997 the Galli family can buy back the land of their ancestor. In 2014, a consortium of planters came and together, they decided to use their expertise to create an agricole rum : Papa Rouyo.
