RENEGADE CANE RUM is a pioneering, terroir-driven rum project in Grenada from Mark Reynier, the man behind the renaissance of Islay’s Bruichladdich single malt whisky and multi-award winning, innovative Waterford Distillery. Reynier's ambition is to create the world's most profound rum by extracting flavours from Grenada’s isolated parcels of sugarcane, grown on the island’s diverse and fertile volcanic terroirs, with complete individuality from cane to cask.
Situated on the mountainous, volcanic, Caribbean Island of Grenada, the Renegade Rum Distillery has access to a wide range of altitudes, soils, terroirs and microclimates, which are ideal for growing quality cane. The purpose-built, state-of-the-art Renegade Rum distillery has cutting-edge still design and digital logistics, and uses sophisticated eco-technology and phytoremediation to ensure minimal impact on the beautiful surrounding environment.
At the show you will have the opportunity to taste a range of pre-cask white rums, which are the distillery’s very first distillates. Designed for comparing and contrasting each rum is best enjoyed alongside its siblings allowing you to understand where each of the main flavours and textures come from. Whilst you are tasting the rum, check out Renegade’s ‘cane code’ for in-depth information on the cane, the terroir and the rum production processes alongside images and sounds from the farm itself.
