Matt Pietrek is a rum educator, author, consultant and historian who works with many of the rum world’s best-known companies. He is the author of the 850-page Modern Caribbean Rum (2022) and previously wrote Minimalist Tiki (2019). Matt has written for many drinks industry publications, including PUNCH, Bourbon Plus, and Bevvy, and contributed entries to the Oxford Companion to Spirits & Cocktails. He serves as the Community Envoy for the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers’ Association, where he regularly interacts with many Caribbean rum makers’ management and technical staff.
