Liza has been with the Destilería Serrallés for almost 20 years. After working in the petrochemical and biotechnology industries, she found her calling and true love in making rum. Over the years she has worked directly with the fermentation and distillation processes and was responsible for the overall quality control. For Liza, all of the aspects of rum making are full of surprises and learning experiences that make every day exciting and filled with challenges. In 2010, the Chemical Engineers Institute awarded Liza with the 2010 Women’s Vanguard Award from the College of Engineers.

As a native Puerto Rican, Liza is most proud of her ability to make a difference in the island and in her part in crafting Puerto Rico’s number one rum. Her favorite Don Q Rum expression is the recently launched Don Q Reserva 7, she feels as if she’s enjoying a piece of her island and its culture with every sip.
