Don Q Rum is a premium Puerto Rican rum crafted by Destilería Serrallés, a family-owned distillery with over 150 years of expertise. They are a family owned rum producer since 1865, for 6 generations. In 1865, Don Juan Serrallés, produced his first few casks of rum using a five tray copper pot still he had imported from France.

In 1934, following the repeal of prohibition, Destileria Serrallés launched what would be to date, the #1 and preferred rum in Puerto Rico. It was named Don Q, after the literary classic and one of Serrallés’ favourites, Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes.

In 1954, the iconic and world renowned cocktail, the Piña Colada, was created at the Beachcombers Bar at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico, using Don Q rum. It was created by local bartender, Ramon “Monchito” Marrero and it was proclaimed as the official drink of Puerto Rico.
