William Hinton Rum is produced by Engenho Novo da Madeira, a company established in 2006 by one of the heirs of the Hinton family, owners of the largest sugar cane processing plant in Europe called “Fábrica do Torreão”.

“Torreão” is a reference to the big and iconic chimney of the distillery. Today this architectonic element is the only thing that stands from the old Hinton distillery in the heart of Funchal City.

From this historic industrial heritage, the company inherited a centenary column still, from which they still extract what they like to call the Madeira lost spirit.

Under the leadership of a new generation of entrepreneurs, the historic legacy of the Hinton brand has been reborn.
